Position Statement On Position Statements
A position statement is the declaration of where someone, or a group, ultimately stands. When produced by an organization, that statement is often restricted to areas directly tying into its mission statement/mandate.
The Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers (CAPPDT) believes that a position statement may influence other associations, other professionals, politicians, the media and the average citizen. As such, each person or organization producing a position statement is morally and ethically bound to fully research each topic from all perspectives to ensure that the final position statement is an accurate reflection of the facts. This is significant responsibility not to be taken lightly.
Practically speaking, significant resources are required. The CAPPDT believes and trusts in their members and are confident that these members are capable of thoroughly investigating any one of the myriad of topics that a position statement might have as a focus, producing well informed opinions of their own that they can, and should, share within their own spheres of influence.
